The only issue I have - which is different in the Faxon and Smoke Composites - is there are just thin holes in the carbon fiber with little bolts holding it to the metal mounting ring. I fear flexing will tear up those little holes.Smoke Composites forms a ring at the front of the handguard, I would guess to protect the front from getting chipped, it would be quite thin otherwise. The inside of the ring measured 1.53 inches, so some suppressors will fit inside the handguard. The idea is somewhat similar to what is done for AR ‘pistol’ builds, but with a recoil system adequate for a full size. I wish I had gone with the Smoke hand guard at a custom length. The two nut clamp on the Faxon just gets in the way of a mag well grip, but it's just nitpicking.
